No Brazilian Waxing in New Jersey?

By , About.com GuideMarch 22, 2009

Follow me on:

The New Jersey Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling wants to stop Brazilian bikini waxes from being performed after two women were hospitalized after receiving them. Division of Consumer Affairs Director, David Szuchman does not agree with the proposed regulation in a letter he sent to the Board. I’m sure they’ll go back and forth before some concrete ruling either way.

Getting hurt from a Brazilian wax can happen if you shouldn’t get waxing done in the first place or if you have a technician that doesn’t know how to perform this type of wax safely or correctly- even if they’re licensed. Sanitation, like not-double-dipping the applicator, is extremely important so as to not give you an infection or disease. Also, knowing how to prepare and take care of this specialty wax helps you get and keep the best results.
