The no!no! Hair 8800 Series, made by the Radiancy company, is a cordless product with three adjustable settings and a status screen. It can be used on the body (excluding the breasts and genitals) and the face with narrow thermicon tips for small and sensitive areas. It's not for instant removal of hair but requires multiple uses.

How Does no!no! Work?

The company calls their hair removal technology Thermicon™, made to singe the hair below the skin using heat. It does not use light energy like laser and IPL (intense pulsed light) hair removal do.

How Is the Device Used?

Hair needs to be a stubble length (1 - 3mm). On clean, dry skin the device is glided across in a smooth, steady non-stop motion. Sliding at the correct pace, the blue light on the screen will continuously remain lit and won't flicker at all. A red light turns on if it's not moving correctly.

After each section, a buffer is worked in a firm circular motion on treated hair. It's said to exfoliate skin and help buff hair down so it's not so stubbly.

They recommend that the no!no! be used instead of shaving, with the reason that shaving will affect hair reduction results. But if you still want to shave, to do so after the treatment, not before.

When completely finished, their cream, no!no! Smooth or another lotion that doesn't contain alcohol should be applied.

The suggested use is 2-3 times per week for the first 4-6 weeks. And after that, only as necessary.

Who Can Use It?

It doesn't matter what a person's hair or skin color happens to be. Since it doesn't use light energy and seek out the dark pigment like with laser and IPL hair removal, the color of hair or skin isn't a factor for safety or results.

The Burning Stench

Have you ever smelled burning hair? It's not pleasant. In this case the company actually wants you to smell burning as they say it's doing its job.

Does the no!no! 8800 Hurt?

The company says that it shouldn't be painful, but can cause temporary redness, especially on sensitive skin. They also advise starting with the lowest setting and working up.

From reading reviews of users, some felt pain, heat and burning. Others complained of getting small cuts, looking similar to cat scratches. These side effects may be from pushing the product too hard.

How Effective Is It?

The setting selected does not have a bearing on results. After using the device 2- 3 times per week for 4 - 6 weeks, results may be seen, but the hair will grow back. According to the company,"However it will grow back looking thinner and finer. If you stop using no!no!, hair growth may eventually return to its previous pattern." They also point out the it will work well on thick coarse hair, but may take a little longer to notice the difference.

How Is the 8800 Series Different than the Classic no!no!?

The 8800 series has adjustable treatment levels and a status screen that shows the battery level status and when to replace the thermicon tip. It's also compatible with thermicon tips for small and sensitive areas, like the face and bikini line. It's thinner than the Classic and has a rechargeable battery so it can be used cordless.

How Much Does It Cost?

The kit comes with the no!no!, 2 thermicom tips (1 wide, 1 narrow), a buffer, cleaning brush, charger, quick guide and user manual on CD and retails for $270 (compare prices). Buffers wear down and one tip will last about three to six months depending on factors like how often it's used and the thickness of hair. 2 narrow thermicon tips and a buffer cost about $25 and 3 wide thermicon tips and a buffer cost about $29.
