"Diamonds are a girl's best friend" or so the saying goes. Well, rather than just shining on our fingers and necks, they will be helping our legs and other body areas to glisten with hair-free skin. Our best friend will take on a whole new meaning when a razor made of diamonds could last more than 50 times longer than the steel blade most of us are using. (At that point, I think they'll also become great buddies of men.)
A German company, Diamaze, which currently makes diamond industrial blades, is in the process of getting shaving razor blades using diamonds in our bathrooms within the next two years. They will last much longer than mainstream blades (about two years worth of shaving) because diamond is sharper than steel. And the company also points out that it will provide a more comfortable shave because it takes less force than steel to cut through the hair.
Since the sharpness should hardly change during those two years there's no re-sharpening needed. (Sounds good to me!) Because of its long-life the price will be higher than one steel razor. But then again, what do we expect to pay for something made with diamonds?
